From 2000 to 2003 Aaqil was Deputy Editor of Documentaries in the BBC’s Religion and Ethics department before heading up Channel 4’s religion and multicultural programming. His high-profile TV projects include PANORAMA, EVERYMAN and BBC news specials such as THE FUNERAL OF DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES.

Aaqil is also responsible for award winning productions such as SAVING AFRICA’S WITCH CHILDREN, THE QUR’AN, INSIDE THE MIND OF A SUICIDE BOMBER, and KARBALA: CITY OF MARTYRS. In 2005 he was voted No 4 on the list of The 20 Most Powerful Asians in Britain.

In 2009 he became head of BBC Commissioning and Religious and Ethics creating highly praised productions including OTTOMANS: EUROPE’S MUSLIM EMPERORS, THE LIFE OF MUHAMMAD, BRITAIN’S MUSLIM SOLDIERS and SREBRENICA: NEVER AGAIN? He has been responsible for the UK’s leading religious programme SONGS OF PRAISE as well as the BBC’s coverage of Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to the UK in 2010.

Aaqil is a Professor at the School of Media and Performing Arts, University of Bolton, is a Non-Executive Director of the Advertising Standard’s Authority and a Trustee of leading development charity Muslim Aid.

Maythem has over 20 years experience in the film and television industry creating award-winning documentary, drama and commercial projects. His films as writer and as director have been selected for major international film festivals, distributed theatrically, broadcast and won many accolades and prizes. With specialist knowledge of working in the Middle East and Europe, he has launched channels in both regions; including 10 satellite channels for Showtime Networks. He made films in English and Arabic for BBC World Service and for ART Europe.

Maythem wrote IRAQI TALES, a body of stories for film, at the National Film & Television School (UK); DRIFTING ON THE WIND (ArRuh Ala ArRih) was chosen by over 20 international film festivals, winning the Director’s Award at Hearts & Minds. AL-BAGHDADI won the Gold Prize for Best Foreign Language Film at the International Filmmaker Festival. Winner of Al Hambra Award (UK) and a Takreem Prize (Iraq), Maythem also works as a consultant on film, television and media projects for several international projects.

Since 1990 Mostafa has worked for some of the biggest companies in the industry including BBC, ITV, Al-Jazeera, NBC and MBC ranging in positions from Director to Senior Producer. In 2005, he joined Al Jazeera Media Network, which holds 70 bureaus around the world. Mostafa began his time there as a Programs Producer/Director with their English and Arabic channels.

Over the course of his 10 years with Al Jazeera Media Network he held different Managerial positions including Head of Production with their Children Channel, Head of Programs for the Documentary Channel and eventually their Global Production Operations Manager for programs and documentaries.

Clare has worked in broadcast and advertising for many years, including twelve years writing and producing on-air promo campaigns for the BBC. She has worked with numerous blue chip clients including BBC TV, BBC Arabic, BBC World Service, De Beers, Old El Paso and The Department of Constitutional Affairs.

In addition to her award winning creative work, she is an experienced producer, who has organised many high end commercial shoots in the UK and abroad.

Experienced in all aspects of the creative process, Clare is able to take projects from planning stage, through creative development and production to delivery.

IBRAHIM AHMED

Award winning graphics designer with over 15 years of experience, Ibrahim is an expert in branding. With specific knowledge of Arabic and Middle Eastern design, and an understanding of Arabic TV trends, he is able to communicate a company's message on a variety of platforms. Ibrahim is a fantastically creative branding consultant, with a strong background in GFX design.

Visual communication is his art and passion, and has spent his entire career developing this skills. Studying at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, London’s top design university, he was able to tune his skills in visual communication through animation. Eventually going on to heading up a team, as Head of Graphics in leading post-production company, Envy.

His previous roles involved facilitating an online department namely on Smoke and Nitris, concept development & pitching for various broadcasting idents & corporate films. As Head of Graphics, he also developed excellent one-to-one client relationships.

Having great technical skills in design, animation and photography not only allow him to conceive ideas more adept and full-rounded by being able to communicate with audiences on different platforms, but also to physically create and deliver them.

PAUL LITTLE

For more than a decade Paul served as a photographer within the Royal Air Force providing photographic support for every aspect of RAF activity. During His career Paul was selected and trained in a specialist Press and Public Relations role as well as receiving Video and Video Production training at RAF Cosford’s Defence School Of Photography. He has extensive experience in photographing press events and VIP visits, including Royalty and Heads of State. Presentations and large group photography also feature among his many specialisations.

Since leaving the RAF he has been a photographer for the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew fulfilling many of the aforementioned roles for the Gardens, with particular focus on people oriented projects. In 2008 he was awarded Feature Photographer Of the Year for a project ALL IN A DAYS WORK following Kew’s Arboretum Team. In 2012 he followed Kew’s botanist Aaron Davies on expedition to the coffee growing districts of Ethiopia. The footage he brought back featured in Kew’s Wildescreen Panda award-winning short THE FORGOTTEN HOME OF COFFEE.

Romyn is a London based Cinematographer & Editor. Coming from an Indian family growing up in West London his love of filmmaking started from a young age and has only grown as his dreams blossomed into fruition.

With a strong emphasis on Documentary filmmaking, notable projects have so far included Big Tobz’ STILL WINNING Documentary and Tinie Tempah’s EUROPEAN TOUR DIARIES.

His ability to seamlessly move between the roles of Cinematographer and Editor have equipped him with the necessary tools to add value to any production.
